MARY KOM MAKES A GOOD FIST OF DARNING:

MUMBAI:  you wouldn’t associate a dainty skill like sewing with Olympic medal-winning boxer M.C.Marry Kom but acquiring life skills was part of growing up in Manipur for the hardy fighter. She helped parents out in the fields and lent a hand in the housework as an earnest, energetic young girl trying to find her way in life.
                Five world amateur boxing titles in varied weight categories (45kg,46kg and 48kg)won in competitions staged by the world body, AIBA, followed by an Olympic 51kg Bronze medal at London 2012 on the women’s boxing debut indicate that she chose the right path.
                Recently, however, Mary Kom evinced interest in the craft of sewing, walking into Usha International’s Hab, an experiential haberdashery store, lending her weight to a sewing schools project.
                The Silai Schools initiative is aimed at teaching needy women to sew and impart the learning to other members of the community ary Kom said: ‘’women choosing boxing as a career in sports is now common. Due to the Silai[sewing] Schools programme, women can earn for themselves”.
                The sewing project was launched in March 2011, by when Mary Kom had won five boxing titles-2002,2005,2006,2008 and 2010.AIBA nicknamed her ‘Magnificent Mary’ in honour of her impact on the game.

INDIA(PATNA):  The former Bihar chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, launched a”Bihar on Wikipedia” campaigh on Friday to “strengthen Brand Bihar”.
                We know much about Bihar’s golden history culture, great personalities, traditions and astonishing stories, but the world connected to the Internet doesn’t we are launching the ‘Bihar on Wikipedia’. Campaign for them to strengthen Brand Bihar, Mr.kumar posted on a social networking site.
                Asking what people of Bihar were giving back to the State and doing for future generations Mr.Kumar, who was chief Minister for almost nine years, invoked Internet users, especially the youth, to participate in the campaign.
In his message, he asked them to write about their village or town, its unique  culture, history, development, emiment personalities and about every important aspect of the State to enrich the dialogue on Bihar. Throught it
                “This will not only be a positive step towards creating Brand spread across the golobe will also be able to contribute in increasing the prestige of their state”, he said
